The third assignment on canvas during my training was to repaint a photo. Since I take photos everywhere and at all times during my walks, it was natural to use a self-taken photo.
During the many walks with my husband Ron through the beautiful Limburgse Heuvelland, I took a photo from the bridge in the village of Wijlre. This village has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. It was first mentioned in writing in 1147. It was a lordship at the time of the Roman Empire and originated from the Old Germanic word 'wiler' which means homestead or hamlet. The river Geul flows through it, alongside which the Brand Brewery is also located.
I captured this little river in this painting.
Canvas size: 40x40x1.5cm in oil paint. Finished with a varnish layer.
